Review - Beyond

"I'm Bad... Well, Not Really"

Another small hentai review, I think this title is so obscure that I couldn't even find it on ANN, apparently this 2 episode OVA from the 90's they are Beyond: Awakening Satan; the Devil and Legend of Satan; the Devil

By the title you could think this could be the most horrible tentacle hentai ever, but you would be WRONG! this story is set in the far future, an ancient entity's seal is broken by his female servant, she tells him that he's one of the most evil creatures of the universe, but he doesn't remember a thing and he's nice to people!!

So in a quest to regain his memories he travels thru the universe with his servant encountering a female space captain, a female bounty hunter and a princess, the art style looks like 90's AIC, the story is OK with some good bits of comedy and everything is consensual, a big plus in my book.

Movie Time: "Sucker Punch" Featurette

One of the movies that has me pumped for next year is Jack Snyder's Sucker Punch, the story of a young woman that is thrown into a mental institution and abused, the only ways for Babydoll and the other women in the institution to get away is from all their fear is a mission into their minds. Yesterday Warner Brothers dropped this little featurette on Itunes and its keeping my interest up in the movie, you got Zombie, Mazis, Robots, Mecha and Giant Samurai with chain guns!!!!

So guys and gals what do you think about this new Zack Snyder project?

Movie Time: TransFormers 3 - Dark of The Moon Trailer

Well, The Trailer for Michael Bay's newest Explosion-Fest TranFormers 3: Dark of the Moon hit the web, honestly it looks intriguing, hoping the movie takes more from the first movie more than Revenge of the Fallen, but knowing Michael Bay, it might be too much to ask, prepare for multiple explosions, in 3D.

Overview - The World God Only Knows 1-7

Continuing my trip thru the current anime season I checked out what's available of The World God Only Knows based on the manga by Tamiki Wakaki. We got Keima, a gamer with no social skills who specializes in dating sims to the level of considering himself a "God", but when he gets roped into serving the Underworld by capturing lost souls who are conveniently stored into current anime girl archetypes (athlete, tsundere, idol) alongside a bumbling servant called Elsie who wants to prove herself he has to use his considerable sim date game experience to get into the girls' hearts so that the lost spirit inside is expelled, a prospect that he doesn't enjoy and that cuts into his gaming time, but if he doesn't work it will cost his and Elsie's life.

The series is funny, you feel for the characters even if Keima's personality is very grating at times, the series does homages to classic anime like Heidi of the Alps, Gundam and others that I may have missed. So if you want to explore the World That God Only Knows, head over to Crunchyroll.

Overview - Kuragehime 1-5

As most of the people that know me can attest I'm an unrepentantly rabid Mecha anime fan, with a mayor in Super Robots, and this season has given us shows like Star Driver, Super Robot Wars and Iron Man: The Anime. But sometimes one wants to try something different and thanks to Ed Sizemore, check out his blog here , I decided to take a look at Kuragehime AKA Jellyfish Princess, based on the manga by Akiko Higashimura.

This is the story of Tsukimi a girl who has recently moved to Tokyo, had all her illusions shattered by the big city and is living in a female dorm with a bunch of very unuortodox otaku girls that live a in almost a recluse existence , Tsukimi has a facination with Jellyfish and the other girls fascinate over trains, traditional dolls, older men and Romance of the Three Kingdoms and form a sisterhood that has sworn off men. But when a stylish woman helps her to save a miscared jellyfish at the petshop she gets more than she bargained for as this beautiful woman turns out to be a man....

Tsukimi tries to balance this new friendship, as our boy does the crossdressing thing as a sign of rebellion against his family and her relationship with the other apartment mates. The series is funny and surreal with a bit of britcom feel, the OP is a crazy collage of references to Hollywood movies and the Ed is charming. Tsukimi as a character has a touch of moe that is not bothersome. if the series continues like this, it is an easy recommendation for comedy fans.

You can watch it on Funimation's Video Portal

Review - Koe de Oshigoto OVA 1

"Why am I doing this job?"

I'll just start with these words Hentai is Anime too, I'm one of those people that don't segregate hentai to a corner as the black sheep of the family so you will be seen hentai around this pages, but it will be tastefully done.

Having said that this title doesn't feel like a hentai IMHO, there's graphic content, but it's well done as it reflects the story, Having a title like Yosuga No Sora on the bleeding edge between a standard anime and a full blown hentai considering that it comes from an eroge and has the balls to admit it to its audience instead of those other anime adaptations that sidestep their origins.

Based on the manga by Azure Konno, this is the story of a lovely female high school student, who gets recruited to voice an eroge by her sister who works for a small eroge publisher in rural Japan. She just dumps the script on Renna's hands and she struggles to make it work, Renna wants to help her because Yayoi is helping their mother to raise funds for Renna's college education, but trying to help will bring her into lots of embarrassing situations.

The animation is of current OVA quality, the story does have it's really funny moments and the censorship is done in a way that is not as distracting as the classic mosaic effect.

Review - Be a Man! Samurai School!

                                                          Trailer

Be a Man! - Samurai School!

Based on the manga by Akira Miyashita this is the story of the toughest school in Japan, where the minds of the manly men that will steer the country into prosperity are educated (If this school really existed, maybe Japan wouldn't be filled with pussyfied hikkinomori with no social skills and who have to content themselves with worshiping moeblobs and making them their waifus), by raising their hot blooded badassery to the max!

We meet  Momotaro Tsurugi, a BadAss that carries a katana, Genji Togashi who wants to follow his BadAss brother footsteps and Hidemaro, the wimp and only heir to the Gokukouji Yakuza family. Their curiculum is filled with tests and punishments that test their hot blooded resolve and willpower but when Omito Date, an expelled student (who took fashion tips from Arago/Tulpa from Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors) and his group of thugs beat up the student body and challenge the principal for control of the school, the First year students must raise to the challenge and participate in a deadly tournament to save the honor of their institution.

The movie is a mix of crazy action and absurdist comedy, this school is like the Toenail of Satan School from Go Nagai's Kekko Kamen, except for the lack of female molestation. The action sequences are competent and the SFX is decent for the budget of this movie (YAY, Arterial Bloodspray!!!). If you need a lesson on male spirit, hotblooded BadAssery and shedding manly tears, this movie is for you.

Review - High Kick Girl

                                                            Trailer
Well, This is a middle of the road martial arts movie, Kei is a karate practitioner that's only interested in fighting and basically attacks any martial artist she can find, something that her sensei doesn't approve, but when her initiation into a gang of martial art using hit persons brings to the surface the gang's connection to her master, all hell breaks loose.

The story is merely OK, the martial art choreography is competent as it is a spotlight of Karate techniques, the only fight that could be somewhat impressive is Kei's  'initiation' fight, this ain't the Shaw Brothers although I will give them points because there's no Wire-Fu in the entire movie. The extras on the DVD aren't subbed or dubbed.

You can do a whole lot better or a whole lot worse with this movie, if you want to see a girl with long legs and a short skirt kicking the crap out of a whole lot of people, this movie is for you.

3 roundhouse kicks out of 5.
